1887 William Greenleaf Eliot, Jr., founder of the first Unitarian church west of the Mississippi River, died at age 75. In addition to serving as the church’s minster from 1834-1887, he was the founder of Washington University in St. Louis. Read more about William Greenleaf Eliot, Jr.
