Preface to the Ware Lecture Series

In 1920 Harriet E. Ware of Milton, Massachusetts, bequeathed $5,000 to the American Unitarian Association to honor the distinguished services of three generations of the Ware family “to the cause of Pure Christianity.”

One Ware Lecture was usually given during each annual Unitarian May Meeting. After consolidation with the Universalist Church of America, the Ware Lecture continued since 1961 as a feature of the annual General Assembly of the Unitarian Universalist Association.

The following pages contain illustrated biographical notes of selected Ware Lecture speakers, as well as the opportunity for the reader to learn more about the lecturers via Amazon Books. If you purchase anything at all from Amazon via our website—harvardsquarelibrary.org—whether it be a book, a computer, clothing, or anything else, you and your friends will help to support this worldwide UU ministry. Thanks!
