This is the only
known photograph of five Harvard Presidents together. From left
to right, Josiah Quincy (1829-1845), Edward Everett (1846-1849),
Jared Sparks (1849-1853), James Walker (1853-1860), and Cornelius
Conway Felton (1860-1862).
In continuous service were nine presidents from 1810 to 1933, including
John T. Kirkland, Thomas Hill, Charles W. Eliot, and A. Lawrence
Lowell. In addition, two other Unitarians exercised the Office of
President without the title: Henry Ware and Andrew Preston Peabody.
